Adobe Photoshop Elements: The User Interface
When you open a new or opened file in Photoshop Elements, it’s put into one of four modes depending on what actions you’ve used so far:
The Basic tab is used to edit or create a new, blank image. This is similar to the “File” tab in most image editing software programs, but Photoshop Elements doesn’t have such a feature. Instead, you need to click on the image you want to work on and then click the “Use Image” button.
The Image tab is used to edit an image. Use the Thumbnail and Rename tools to select an existing photo or use the Search tool to choose from a Library of photos or items already stored in the program.
The Adjustment tab allows you to make a number of simple adjustments, such as rotate, crop, and flip. Use the Crop tool to select an area of the photo you want to work on, and then click the crop icon on the upper-right side of the screen to choose the shape.
The Blend tab is used to create new images that are based on a composite of other images. You can also make selections, create and modify brushes, and make other changes with this tab.
These are just a few of the possibilities with Photoshop Elements; others include the Web, Design, Drawing, Filters, Animation, and Web Design tabs.
Photoshop Elements has a wealth of features, as you can see from the tabs and the many icons above them. While Photoshop Elements is great for casual users who want to get work done and make simple edits, it can be a bit frustrating for more complex, advanced users who have been using Photoshop for years.

The fine structure of the Cu(II) complex was obtained from the EPR parameters of the paramagnetic and diamagnetic (dummy Cu(II) complexes) [Cu(PL)(H2O)][Cu(PM)(H2O)], [Cu(PL)(O2CCCH3)], [Cu(PM)(O2CCCH3)][Cu(Py)(O2CCCH3)], and [Cu(Py)(O2CCCH3)](2+). All the complexes show positive and negative (-1.5 to -3.8 mT) g values that correspond to different orientations of the Cu(II) ion in the complex. The results suggest the presence of the {Cu(PL)(H2O)}(2+) and {Cu(PM)(H2O)}(2+) half-sandwich and sandwich complexes in the aqueous solutions. The EPR spectrum of [Cu(PL)(O2CCCH3)](+) does not show the presence of either the {Cu(PL)(O2CCCH3)}(3+) or {Cu(PL)(O2CCCH3)}(2+) moiety, and is consistent with [Cu(PL)(O2CCCH3)](+) being a diamagnetic species.
